While they may not be testing on animals for sale elsewhere, however they are choosing to put their business in China above the ethical choice of being cruelty free. Since China requires brands to test their products on animals before selling them in Mainland China, technically brands that choose to sell in China cannot be considered cruelty free. Some good Indian beauty brands that are cruelty free are Ruby’s Organics, Juicy Chemistry, Plum Goodness, SUGAR Cosmetics, Dot & Key, and many more. So although the products are essentially made with animal-tested materials, these brands can still legally claim to be cruelty free. Many brands choose to source their raw materials from China, where animal testing is mandatory. ![]() However the law has a loophole that doesn’t account for raw materials. ![]() Owing to this law, all homegrown and Indian brands that are manufactured in India are essentially cruelty free. Moreover, it has also banned the import of cosmetic products tested on animals elsewhere in the world. Since 2013, India has banned the testing of cosmetic products in India.
